Pinterest Cleaning: The End And What Is Next?

Here we are... we have come to the end of our cleaning journey... Today is Sunday...I have finished what I wanted to finish... the amount of cleaning I have done over the last few days is absolutely crazy. I can not believe that I needed to do that much!

Cleaning the first day was the kitchen, it took me HOURS to clean it. Which is crazy to me.. because I clean it very often lol.. but not the way that this list had me cleaning it. after wiping down the base boards and the cabinets and cleaning the fridge( again)...I was ready for a nap! hahaha!

Cleaning my living room on day 2 wasn't that long... not sure what I did so different... maybe I was just aware of how much more work I would have to do for that room therefore I was prepped better. I did a lot of cleaning, it was great... even my kids noticed that the house was starting to look newer, which is always nice. Oh, and also, my vacuum broke.... I had to go buy a new one right in the middle of this. Now, I don't have too much carpet... but ANYONE with any bit of carpet knows the real difference in a clean room with clean carpets and the opposite. Needless to say..I pulled a hail marry jumped on the Target app and ordered a vacuum for drive up!

Since I went back to work on Wednesday it was harder to clean the spaces for the rest of the week. My key phrase for the rest of the week was that I was going to allow myself grace during this time period and allow myself to clean as I went. On Wednesday I cleaned a good portion of my master bedroom. It was the full on clean like I had wanted, but I did get a lot of dust and grossness gone from my space. I also cant clean this space completely alone since I share it with Keith. It is one of our projects for a weekend to get our room together lol.

Thursday came right along...and I knew that it was the day to clean the kids room. And honestly, I didn't do much in it. Keith and I feel like it is the responsibility of the kids to take care of their spaces. It teaches them to respect their belongings and clean up. Now, kids should be kids... I do NOT expect them to clean and the room to stay spotless... That would be false and unrealistic as a person. Instead I TRY... try being the best word to teach them to clean up after themselves...However, there was one project that I needed to be present to help with for both kids, but it was going to have to wait until Saturday- which was cleaning underneath their beds where the sock monster lives hahaha

Friday I cleaned the bathroom with the help of Lexie... don't know why, but she saw me scrubbing and decided that she wanted to help me too, never going to turn down help to clean hahaha. The bathroom is a room that I clean fairly often... so this one I have down to almost a science on how i clean it.. not big thing,  but its always nice to clean.

This challenge was suppose to end on Friday, but I had to clean my special project in the kids room. So, I got the kids ready and got them moving in their room. We also de-cluttered their toys... which we do twice a year. The kids will go through their toys and decide to keep playing or "donate" the toy. We put them in boxes with their names on it, and move it to our porch. If the kids ask for something out of this box they can of course go and get it, if the do not then after about 2- 3 weeks we will seriously donate the box to goodwill or something. At the end of the day, the kids were so happy to have their room cleaned with intention and  put together nicely.

Overall this cleaning schedule was interesting.. I don't see how cleaning the baseboards in every room should be done weekly, but I will deff. fold this into my monthly routine going forward. I liked that each day my attention was on one room.. which made me feel less crazy haha. I'm going to try it out again as maybe an every other week schedule. I'm still on the hunt for my perfect cleaning routine.

Whats next you ask? I was to try the konmarie folding method. I'm going to be doing some research on it and I hope to get started on it in April.

Is there any cleaning schedule that you follow? Let me know in the comments below!!
